Priority Projects
General Donations
General donations are always welcome. We undertake to allocate those resources to our project with the highest need.
Your donation may be utilised to assist a child in need, cover our monthly operational costs, and build up much-needed reserves that will enable us to act immediately on requests for assistance.
Our directors will always take requests from our beneficiaries into consideration, while at the same time ensuring the stability and operational status of the Sonneblom Foundation to ensure it will continue to serve the teenagers it was brought to life for.

International Donors
We understand that banking fees are high for international transactions. We encourage you to use the Payfast options we offer below. It will save you from paying high banking transaction fees, and we will carry minimal fees on our side.
South African Donors
We recommend you donate in the way that is easiest for you. Some people prefer EFT, some are comfortable with Payfast. We prefer not to receive cash donations as they carry a large fee for us. However, if you had a lucky night at the casino or a day at the race course, you are welcome to share your cash winnings with us!

Cover Printing Costs
Part of our mission is to create awareness amongst parents, teachers, and most importantly, children.
We need sponsors to cover the printing of posters and flyers to boost our awareness program amongst learners, parents, guardians, and teachers about the AD Suicide Prevention Program. We will be printing A7 flyers and business card-sized emergency cards for distribution, along with A3/A2 posters. If you can help us cover part of it, please consider donating or reaching out.

Meeting our monthly budget
Our monthly budget for operational costs needs to cover the following:
- Accounting fees
- Banking fees
- Pargo shipping fees. We use Pargo to collect donations of physical goods where postage is not covered by donors, and to ship items to children in need.
- Interest-free loan repayment. Any amount received above the monthly budget until the loan is repaid in full. Details on the loan amount are available in the Repayment Interest-Free Loans section. We aim for a minimum of 10%, rounded up to R100.

Laptop Needed
This is an urgent request. We have a single mum who went through counselling, getting her life back on track.
She is studying towards completing her Matric and requires a reasonable laptop with working sound, mic, and camera to attend online classes. Windows OS is required. If MS Office comes with it, it will be much appreciated, else we will look at free alternatives.
She has fallen behind with work and needs to catch up urgently.
She lives in Gauteng. We can arrange for shipment from anywhere in South Africa if you could donate a laptop to us to pass on. We can also collect from you in the greater Johannesburg area.
We will pay you in recognition, or you may stay anonymous if you wish.

Donations as an alternative to the item
We are also accepting donations that will allow us to purchase and distribute high-value items like laptops and cell phones.
This is to make provision for future requirements, and should we not be donated a suitable laptop for distribution in good time.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING HIGH VALUE ITEMS
Cell phones and laptops are our most expensive items requested.
Laptops are needed to assist children in getting their lives back on track and enable them to complete school or their studies.
Cell phones are requested as a means for children to stay in contact with their counsellors.
We do exercise caution when we receive requests like these (and any other requests) to ensure we are not giving away equipment to non-deserving persons.
In most cases, Sonneblom Foundation will become the owners of these items, and an agreement with the guardian of these children will be set to ensure the items are taken care of, used for in intended purposes, and returned to Sonneblom Foundation for redistribution when the child no longer needs them.
You can rest assured that your donated items are protected, utilised, and managed to the best of our ability.
It is in the best interest of all that high-value items, as with all other items, pass through our system to ensure proper management thereof.

Data, WhatsApp bundles, and cell phones are our most frequently requested items. We see this as a vital requirement for our teenagers to stay in contact with their respective counsellors, sometimes for months.

Assist suicidal teenagers - reserves
Our primary focus is to assist in the provision of items that will relieve the immediate needs of children in crisis. The following items are required regularly (information provided by the counsellors from ANGIE DOT ORG DOT ZA, our primary beneficiary):
- WhatsApp data to stay in touch with counsellors (all sessions take place via video calls, and this is the most common request).
- Mobile phones (this is essential for kids in crisis to stay in touch with their counsellors).
- School uniforms.
- Menstrual products for girls.
- Food and snacks.
- Travel money (mostly between school & home during exam periods when regular transport is not available during unusual hours).
- Sports clothing, equipment and fees – some parents simply cannot afford this.
- Food/food parcels, specifically over Ramadan and Eid (pork free), and also Christmas.
- Smoking cessation patches – yes, some kids have fallen into the habit, usually by peer pressure, and are trying to quit.
- Jackets/jumpers/shoes.
- Bicycles can help with transport issues.
From Ingrid Temmerman (who provided the list above), founder of the Angie Diedericks Suicide Prevention Group: “The biggest things are the data, we get a lot of requests for this, followed by mobiles. Food and snacks are next on the list. Then clothes, especially school uniforms. We have helped several times with these things already. We had two students who had no food over Ramadan and Eid hence I threw it in, and also have had some who haven’t had Christmas meals.”
We would like to build up reserves of at least R5 000.00 so we can assist kids in need IMMEDIATELY when needed, instead of having to first request donations, hope they come in, and then assist the children.

Repaying Interest-Free Loans
Our directors made the following amounts available to the newly founded NPC in the form of an interest-free loan:
- Required registration fees.
- Deposits to open bank accounts.
- Assistance to a person in counselling with food before accounts were active and donations came in.
- Monthly running costs not covered by donations.
The amount will be paid back as the budget allows. Amounts will be adjusted, and items will be added and removed as needed.
Ideally, we would like to settle this loan as soon as possible and avoid taking out any additional loans. To achieve this, we ask that yo donate on a regular basis.

Creating Awareness Campaigns
Part of our mission is to create awareness amongst parents, teachers, and most importantly, children. We will reach out to schools where we can introduce ourselves, the services of the AD Suicide Prevention Program, and then also play a pre-recorded message by Ingrid Temmerman, head counsellor at the AD Suicide Prevention Program. At schools where we cannot play such a message because of a lack of facilities, we will convey the message in person.
We also hope to have enough budget that will allow us to print double-sided, A6 flyers to hand to each learner and teacher at every school we visit.
Our budget in this case is very flexible, but we set an amount to cover the initial costs. One side will contain information about ANGIE DOT ORG DOT ZA, the other side information about SONNEBLOM DOT ORG DOT ZA.

United for Change
We collaborate with United for Change as there is an overlap in the functions we support. However, United for Change attends to a broader field of support than Sonneblom Foundation does. Donating via Payfast (https://payfast.co.za) is possibly the best method for international donors with credit cards. We carry a cost of approximately R2.00 PLUS (3.5% EXCLUDING VAT), and you do not have to pay extreme transaction fees.
You may make a monthly contribution to help us cover our regular operational costs. Donations are made through Payfast, a secure online payment solution. Repeat payments are recovered from the same account you used for your first payment, and on the same day of the month you made your first payment.
